A Cappella Pops is a mixed-voice a cappella chorus that is dedicated to the fun and joy of a cappella music for both our members and our audiences.
A Cappella Pops was founded in 2000 by Jan Muck, Director Emeritus, and Tom Halley. Under Jan's Leadership, the group has developed a unique sound and a performance package designed to create high-energy excitement in our audiences.
In 2012, in anticipation of Jan's retirement, Pops conducted an extensive search for a new Musical Director. As a result of this search effort, Pops has retained Pasquale (Pat) Montenegro to take over the position.
Pat is a busy conductor, music director, and pianist in the Delaware Valley, as well as a lecturer, conductor, vocal coach and accompanist for the Schools of Music and Musical Theater at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Pat received his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the Esther Boyer School of Music at Temple University. There he studied choral and orchestral conducting with Alan Harler, orchestral conducting with Luis Biava and opera musical direction with John Douglas. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of the Arts where his studies included Jazz piano with Trudi Pitts, ear training and conducting with Sean Deibler, Chamber Music with pianist Susan Starr and composition with Andrew Rudin.
